Sport-Air .45 ARF

Price: From $80.00 to $140.00

Product Options

The Sport-Air .45 was born by taking our popular Sport-Air .60 kit and reducing it in size and producing it as an ARF airplane.

The Sport-Air .45 is a superlative aircraft designed to have full aerobatic capabilities while retaining very realistic looks and docile handling characteristics. The Sport-Air .45 is a full range aircraft offering everything from sport flying to full aerobatics.

Its highly visible color scheme has been selected to assist you with visual orientation of the airplane while in flight and landing. We recognize that color schemes are personal and have left room for personalized customizations of the color scheme. Since the covering material is Ultracote (aka Oracover) you should easily be able to customize your Sport-Air .45.

The Sport-Air .45 features a pre-assembled wing joined at the factory -- no more worries about joining the wings correctly or setting the dihedral. We've taken care of the hard steps.

Want something different? Send us a sketch with your own color scheme. If your scheme has broad appeal, we'll consider it for inclusion in our color scheme offerings and you'll get the credit for the color scheme design.

The hardware package is fairly complete. You'll need to add an engine mount (a .40-.60 adjustable mount works great). along with your radio gear, engine, etc.

Note the carved wingtips! These are solid balsa and not plastic covers!

*** Important Note About The Sport-Air .45 ***
Updated 1 June 2008
One of the nice features of the Sport-Air .45 is the sleek look of the pre-shaped nose/engine compartment. The sleek nose does come at a small price, namely that the engine compartment is a tight fit. Initially customers had trouble installing rear needle-valve engines like the OS .46 FX and AX engines. However, we have found that rear needle-valve 2C engines can fit in the engine compartment by using either a Hayes or Dave Brown 4650*1 engine mount (See pictures below). Note that some modelers find it very easy to mount the engine if the front part of the engine compartment is opened as shown in the picture below.

*1 For the Dave Brown Engine Mount you will need to drill 11/64" holes in the side of the mount to support the nose gear.
